Bereavement / Grief Support

Resources for Moms, Dads & Families After Fetal or Infant Loss

Experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or infant can bring overwhelming emotions that may affect parents, siblings, grandparents, and loved ones in different ways. There is no “right” way to grieve, and support looks different for every family. If you or someone you know has experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, infant loss, or termination for medical reasons, the following resources may provide comfort, guidance, and connection.

Helpful Ways to Support a Grieving Family

The TEARS Foundation
Offers a safe, compassionate space for individuals and families navigating the loss of a child.

  • Acknowledge the baby and the family’s loss.
  • Avoid phrases like “everything happens for a reason” or “you can try again.”
  • Offer practical help such as meals, childcare, or errands.
  • Continue checking in weeks and months later.
  • Respect that grief may look different for each family member.
  • Encourage professional support if grief feels overwhelming.

When to Seek Additional Help

The TEARS Foundation
It may be helpful to speak with a mental health professional if grief begins interfering with daily life, relationships, sleep, eating, work, or feelings of safety. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you or someone you know is in immediate emotional distress or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988 for immediate support.
